Wrestler's Name: Elijah

Elijah was born on 21st August, 1984. His mother died in childbirth while his father, an alcoholic, killed himself six months later. From then onwards, Elijah was a ward of the state, being passed from one institution to another but never settling anywhere.

His birth certificate has never been found; his parents are unknown, his birthday more a habit than a fact, and his name is one he chose for himself.

His upbringing left him solitary and isolated, unable to form relationships with others. Instead he withdrew into studies - religion and philosophy, and physics, popular culture, history, travel - in an effort to try to understand this world in which he found himself. These experiences left him with a deep well of anger which he struggled to control, continuing the cycle in which he would be taken in by some family or organisation only to be cast out when it became too much.

In his early teens, Elijah was taken into a home run by the Spirit Science Research Institute, a religious sect based around the teachings of a charismatic leader. He remained there for several years, forming for the first time a bond with a fellow resident named Dolores.

The two of them remained close up until the point Elijah left the home, aged 17, having discovered the existence of a project to create a Moonchild - a child conceived through rape by the leader of the cult and raised to be their Messiah. The unwilling woman who had conceived the child was kept captive by the SSRI, denied access to her own child and made to care for the one the cult had forced upon her.
Dolores remained within the cult, held as a prisoner as punishment for her friendship with Elijah and transferred out of the country to ensure they could never meet.

On leaving the SSRI, Elijah lived on the streets, selling heroin to survive and using it to fill the pain. Aged 19, Elijah attempted to kill himself by throwing himself from Ouse Bridge in York. At the last moment, a young woman a few years his junior intervened and saved his life.

The two of them returned to an otherwise abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Her name was Omega - one chosen as a sign that all things must end. As they grew closer, he discovered that she, too, had fled the SSRI - that she was the natural environment offspring of the woman forced to bear the Moonchild.

Not long after they met, the two of them began training in pro wrestling under British wrestling legend “Rebel" Ray Skelton. In large part, this served as a means to channel their anger, to gain skills of self defense, and to make themselves too visible for the SSRI to simply quietly get rid of as they had so many other apostates.

During this period, as Omega finished college, she was placed under the “care” of a psychiatrist who used her as a guinea pig for his new drug, nearly driving her to suicide. This experience left Elijah with a lifelong distrust of the mental health services.

Once Omega had recovered and their schooling was complete, the two of them travelled the world, competing in promotions in Africa, North and South America, Europe and Japan. In Japan they would first encounter Dan “The Hammer” Highlander, forming a friendship that continues to this day.
In 2009, the two of them would come to the United States and join the Championship Wrestling Federation. Elijah immediately came into conflict with Chaolin Sahn, seeing in him echoes of the authoritarian cruelty and cultishness of the SSRI. Sahn, it later transpired, had known Dolores when she was transferred to Japan by the SSRI, and would track her down and use her as a tool to torment Elijah and Omega.

Elijah and Omega, alongside their allies Cain and Angel, would together form the Insurgency, a group which battled against Sahn’s Cyndicate, Rish’s Insurgency, the Demons of Death and many more.
All this would come to a grinding halt in May 2010 when an obsessive fan, convinced Elijah was a prophet and he was his successor, stabbed Elijah on worldwide television. The fan, naming himself Elisha after the biblical prophet who succeeded Elijah when the latter was taken up to heaven, would go on to battle with Amber “Angel” Ryan.

Elijah and Omega, meanwhile, would travel the world, from London to Cairo, Kiev to New York and even Rojava, witnessing riots, protests and revolutions. They would also open their home to visitors from around the world, naming it the Academy with the simple principle of every one a teacher, every one a student.

In 2017, with the CWF back in action, Elijah would return to the ring, winning the world heavyweight championship at WrestleFest III.
